Stacey Paul
Network Biologist
Stacey Paul is a fisheries biologist with Fisheries and Oceans Canada at the St. Andrews Biological Station. Prior to joining the Canadian Fisheries Research Network she spent 15 years as a stock assessment biologist, gaining extensive experience both in the field and lab. She started her career working on Atlantic herring and groundfish stocks, but has spent the last decade working in Canada’s large pelagic fisheries. In addition to contributing to bluefin tuna stock assessments and research, Stacey was the Canadian lead for North Atlantic swordfish within the International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT) forum.
During her time working in fisheries Stacey enjoyed working closely with members of the fishing industry in Atlantic Canada and is pleased to be able to continue that aspect of her work as part of the CFRN. Stacey is particularly interested in the topics of energy use in Canadian fisheries, and exploring ways of incorporating enhanced fisheries knowledge in sustainable fisheries management.
